What do Registered nurses do?
Registered Nurses are professionals who specialize in skilled nursing care. The term skilled nursing is often misunderstood as a service only offered at a nursing home or hospital. In actuality, skilled nursing can be administered either in somebody’s home or at a senior living community. Skilled nursing can be necessary for a short period, usually after an illness or hospital visit, or ongoing long-term for those suffering from a chronic medical condition.
When caring for an elderly patient, the nurse must have both interpersonal and critical thinking skills. Interpersonal skills because active listening, compassion, and the ability to instill trust, allow for an excellent patient to caregiver relationship. Critical thinking because the complexities of caring for wounds or health needs require quick adjustments depending on the situation at hand.
The ultimate goal of skilled nursing is to help a senior regain independence, health, and wellness. Along with your doctor recommendations, our team of nurses will create a customized care plan to help you back on your feet and feeling better again.
